Class 1 Delivery Truck Driver (Seasonal)

Position Overview: 

As a Class 1 Delivery Driver at ADL Foodservice, you will be responsible for delivering full and partial loads of goods to foodservice customers across PEI, primarily ice cream products. This is a physical, hands-on role that involves loading and unloading product, operating hand carts, collecting payments, and maintaining your vehicle in top condition. You will be part of a small, dependable team that plays a key role in ensuring our deliveries run smoothly and customers are well served.

Term of Employment: Seasonal position from March 23, 2026 – October 5, 2026

Wage Rate: $29.11 / hour

Work Environment and Schedule:

  • Early morning start times (shift times vary depending on assigned route)
  • Based out of ADL Foodservice warehouse in Summerside, PE
  • Local routes across PEI — home daily; no long-haul travel
  • Work involves loading and unloading using hand carts; heavy lifting is required
  • Conditions vary and include time in cold storage, dry warehouse areas, and outdoors
  • Fast-paced environment, particularly during peak delivery periods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate a Class 1 tractor-trailer to complete local delivery routes across PEI.
  • Load and unload goods by hand or using a hand cart; some products require heavy lifting.
  • Deliver to restaurants, dairy bars, retail locations, and institutional clients, ensuring timely and accurate drop-offs.
  • Manage invoices and obtain delivery confirmations from customers.
  • Handle cash and cheque payments, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Return unsold or rejected product in accordance with company procedures and coordinate with warehouse staff as required.
  • Complete daily pre-trip and post trip inspections using the Geotab application and report any maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Work early morning shifts and adapt to varying route schedules as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license (required).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of commercial tractor-trailer driving experience (preferred).
  • Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and moving heavy product using hand carts.
  • Previous delivery or route experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong customer service skills – professional, respectful, and reliable when interacting with clients.
  • Able to start early in the morning and adjust to varying routes and schedules.
  • Able to accurately follow delivery routes, complete required logs, and manage delivery documentation.
