Accounts Receivable (AR) Clerk

Type: Full-time

Location: ADL Foods, Summerside, PEI

Description:

The Accounts Receivable (AR) Clerk is directly responsible for performing data entry and related duties in posting accounts receivable payments, as well as reconciling daily cash/cheque payments. This includes maintaining ledgers and credit balances. The AR Clerk will also administer claims, refunds, adjustments, and any other accounting transactions related to A/R management. This position involves diplomatic interaction with customers to provide billing information and support in order to facilitate swift payment of invoices due to the organization.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Finance to maintain collection goals and general A/R performance levels.
  • Communicate with internal/external sales representatives to resolve AR issues as they arise.
  • Receive and apply third party payments, whether by cash, cheque, credit, and other forms of payment.
  • Coordinate the posting and reconciling of customer payments to general ledgers.
  • Work to identify and resolve any payment discrepancies.
  • Facilitate daily bank deposits.
  • Process credit card payments for customers in conjunction with Management and Sales
  • Prepare bi-weekly statements for customers, including applicable interest charges.
  • Review all credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and apply adjustments and/or corrections to corporate billing records.
  • Balance daily A/R batches; prepare and distribute income reports and statistics to key personnel.
  • Form collection strategies to mitigate customer objections to making timely A/R payments.
  • Investigate collection problems and advise customers on corporate A/R policies and procedures
  • Arrange for payment of outstanding and late accounts
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or misapplied cash transactions.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of Account Receivable Clerk related experience with an understanding of bookkeeping and record-keeping practices on a manual and computerized system(s).
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
