Class 1 Delivery Driver

Position Overview:
As a Class 1 Delivery Driver at ADL Foodservice, you’ll be responsible for delivering full loads of goods to foodservice customers across PEI. This is a physical, hands-on role that involves loading and unloading product, operating hand carts, collecting payments, and keeping your vehicle in top shape. You’ll be part of a small, reliable team that plays a key role in ensuring our deliveries run smoothly and our customers are well served.
Work Environment and Schedule:
- Start times are early (morning shifts vary depending on your route)
- Based out of ADL Foodservice warehouse in Summerside, PE
- Local routes across PEI — home every day, no long-haul
- Work involves loading and unloading – hand carts and heavy lifting required
- Conditions vary – includes time in cold storage, dry warehouse, and outdoors
- Pace can be fast – especially during peak delivery times

- Safely operate a Class 1 tractor-trailer to complete local delivery routes across PEI.
- Load and unload goods by hand or with a hand cart; some products require heavy lifting.
- Deliver to restaurants, retail locations, and institutional clients, ensuring timely and accurate drop-offs.
- Manage invoices and obtain delivery confirmations from customers.
- Handle cash and cheque payments, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
- Return unsold or rejected product following company procedures and coordinate with warehouse staff.
- Inspect your truck and trailer daily, complete logbooks, and report any maintenance needs.
- Work early morning shifts and adapt to varying route schedules as needed.
- Valid Class 1 license (required)
- At least 3 years of commercial driving experience with tractor trailers (preferred)
- Comfortable lifting, pushing, and moving heavy product using hand carts
- Previous delivery or route experience is a strong asset
- Good customer service skills – polite, respectful, and reliable with clients
- Able to start early in the morning and adjust to different routes
- Able to accurately follow delivery routes, complete logs, and manage delivery paperwork
