Position Overview:
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as developing and implementing strategies to maintain a safe, secure, and sustainable workplace.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $65,000 – $73,000 per year and will be negotiated based the knowledge, skills, and experience of the successful candidate.

- Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and environmental concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, emphasizing best practices in hazard recognition, accident prevention, and emergency response.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety, health, and environmental consciousness throughout the organization.
- Maintain records and documentation related to health, safety, and environmental activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor environmental performance indicators and implement initiatives to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, participating in inspections and ensuring compliance with permits and licenses.
- Stay informed about new and evolving health, safety, and environmental regulations and trends, and update policies and procedures accordingly.
- Provide leadership and guidance to employees on health, safety, and environmental matters, fostering a safe and supportive work environment.
- Provide H&S expertise for all new projects and change management activities within the organization
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent would be an asset.
- Proven experience as a Health Safety and Environment Officer, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g. CEPA) and experience with regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop proactive solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred
