IT Administrator

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a producer-owned, independent cooperative that operates dairy processing and retail food distribution facilities throughout PEI. For 70 years, we have processed fresh milk from PEI farms to produce premium dairy products, including milk, cheese, cream, butter, and canned milk. Our quality dairy products are in kitchens and restaurants across PEI and Canada.

Position Overview: 

The Information Technology Administrator is responsible for installing and maintaining computer hardware, software and network and may also include desktop support for users. This role supports IT infrastructure in our production facilities across PEI, as well as administrative areas.

The Information Technology Administrator reports to the IT Manager and provides hardware and software maintenance, consultation, and recommendations based on current needs and resources to maintain ADL’s IT services. By delivering these services effectively and efficiently, this role ensures maximum access to and implementation of technology within ADL’s IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network operating systems.
  • Develop a robust understanding of both current and legacy ADL IT systems.
  • Orient new users to existing technology.
  • Provide personalized training and support upon request.
  • Offer recommendations for optimizing access to information and support.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of technology hardware, software, and resources.
  • Recommend purchases of technology resources based on ADL’s needs.
  • Research current and potential technology resources and services.
  • Manage network access as needed.
  • Install workstations, including connecting and setting up hardware.
  • Assist in monitoring ADL’s technology security procedures.
  • Maintain passwords and IP addresses to ensure system security.
  • Inform staff of any security breaches or changes in security status.
  • Identify and prepare obsolete hardware for disposal.
  • Ensure that hardware is properly stripped and secured before disposal.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Network and Systems Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, security principles, and IT best practices.
  • Experience in server administration, VMWare, storage arrays, and Active Directory.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Security+, MCSE) are preferred.

Education and Training:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
