Process Operator

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a producer-owned co-operative with dairy processing and retail food distribution facilities throughout PEI. Founded in 1953, ADL is one of PEI’s largest food processors, with markets across Canada and globally. The company is looking to strengthen its Fluid Milk Production Team and has an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and progressive organization.

Position Overview:

The primary focus of the Process Operator is to operate milk receiving and processing equipment, manage sanitation processes, and perform other duties as required.

Wage Rate: $23.62 / hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sanitize the Equipment: Set computer to run sanitize and change elbows at the manifold.
  • Process Operation / Pasteurize Milk / Make By-products: Operate homogenizers, set separator for different products, mix batches of by-products, add ingredients, pasteurize, and hold, monitor cream types, record temperature, and pump batches to fillers and tanks.
  • Make Product List: Create lists of products to package.
  • Receive/Grade Milk: Receive raw milk, taste for quality, and perform antibiotic tests.
  • CIP (Clean-in-Place): Wash tanks, lines, fillers, CIP tanks, lines, fillers, HTST, and test chemical strength.
  • Complete MP2 tasks as required.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely, in ink.
  • Perform start-up visual inspection for equipment cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operations in compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Successfully completed all required training programs.
  • Provide operational and safety training for employees as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in a production setting is preferred.
  • Should possess the ability to recognize equipment problems and work with the Maintenance department for an effective maintenance program.
  • Must have a high degree of mechanical aptitude for completing preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Should possess a working knowledge of the milk processing operations, including milk receiving and sanitation.
  • Must be willing and able to take and pass work-related courses and/or training.
  • Must be willing and capable of completing all required operating documentation.
  • Must have a working knowledge of HACCP.
  • Must be willing and capable of working as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
