Student Production Worker

ADL West Royalty, Charlottetown – Seasonal Full-time Position

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a producer-owned, independent cooperative that operates dairy processing and retail food distribution facilities throughout PEI. For 70 years, we have processed fresh milk from PEI farms to produce premium dairy products, including milk, cheese, cream, butter, and ice cream. Our quality dairy products are in kitchens and restaurants across PEI and Canada.

Position Overview:

As a Student Production Worker at our milk processing facility in West Royalty, Charlottetown, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to various stages of our milk production process. Your role will involve organizing supplies, preparing ingredients, assembling packaging, and maintaining a clean work environment. You’ll also assist with machine operations and help in the cooler as needed. This position is designed to be straightforward and engaging, offering hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing setting. It’s a great way to gain practical skills while working in a team-oriented atmosphere.

Wage Rate: $17.00 / hour

Schedule Requirements:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 7 AM to 3 PM
  • Saturday: 7 AM to 1 PM

Key Responsibilities:
  • Unload shipments and organize materials for easy access.
  • Keep the dry storage room tidy and well-organized.
  • Prepare ingredients needed for making ice cream.
  • Help move ingredients to different parts of the production area.
  • Assemble boxes used for packaging our products.
  • Accurately label 10-liter bags for shipment.
  • Stack and organize empty cases to keep the area neat.
  • Move packaging materials around the plant as needed.
  • Step in to help keep machines running during breaks.
  • Assist in the cooler area whenever necessary to help keep things moving smoothly.

Qualifications:
  • Must be entering or returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the Fall.
  • Preferred experience in an HACCP certified food production setting.
  • Ability to thrive in a manufacturing environment with elements such as noise, changing temperatures, and constant maneuvering around equipment throughout the shift.
  • Experience working with chemicals, utilizing personal protective equipment, and following approved chemical handling procedures is an asset.
  • Capable of performing physical tasks involved in production processes.
