Position Overview:
The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing operations during their assigned shift to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role coordinates daily activities in cheese processing and packaging, provides hands-on supervision of staff, and helps ensure compliance with internal procedures and food safety regulations. The supervisor supports training, enforces safety protocols, troubleshoots issues in real time, and collaborates with key teams including Milk Receiving, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Logistics to maintain smooth operations across the plant. This position plays a direct role in workforce coordination, quality control, and inventory tracking—keeping production running and aligned with business targets.

- Lead Daily Review Meetings on the production floor.
- Supervise, coordinate, and adjust shift activities for cheese processing, packaging, Milk Receiving, and support functions.
- Ensure safe, fair working conditions and compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Support onboarding and training of new staff; track trainee progress and assist with assessments.
- Review and communicate shift production worksheets, packing lists, and inventory logs.
- Monitor milk, cream, and whey flows to maintain consistent production output.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to meet food safety and BRC certification requirements.
- Complete near-miss reports and help enforce quality and safety protocols.
- Respond to short notice scheduling needs and assist with crew adjustments.
- Assist with incident reporting, RTW coordination, and documentation for WCB purposes.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and reinforce good manufacturing practices.
- Collaborate with plant leadership on inventory coordination, shift planning, and staff support.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
- Significant relevant experience in food, beverage, or related production environments is required.
- Comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts, including days and nights.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and make decisions during daily operations.
- Experience in supervising in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
- Training in HACCP and other food safety regulations is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain an efficient, hygienic, and positive working environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
