Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a producer-owned, independent cooperative with dairy processing plants and a retail food distribution facility spread throughout PEI. For 70 years, we have processed fresh milk from PEI farms to produce premium dairy products, including milk, cheese, cream, butter, and canned milk. Our quality dairy products are in kitchens and restaurants across PEI and Canada.

Position Overview: 

The Staff Accountant role is a vital component of our Finance Team, reporting directly to the Corporate Controller. This position is essential for maintaining the precision and timeliness of our financial reports. Responsibilities include managing general ledger accounts, posting accurate journal entries, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards and internal controls.

Location: Charlottetown, PE or Summerside, PE (work location flexible)

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, daytime shifts only.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Timely posting of journal entries including accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and corrections to support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes.
  • Collecting supporting documentation and maintaining organized records.
  • Reviewing and reconciling intercompany transactions and credit card activities.
  • Preparing and coding vendor invoices for Accounts Payable processing.
  • Conducting monthly filings of third-party compliance reports.
  • Undertaking special projects and providing ad-hoc reporting as needed.

  • 1-3 years of related accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Education and Training:
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting required.
